Gatsby Inspired 1920’s Art Deco Event Decor

This richly styled photo shoot gives us a glimpse of an era filled with elegance, sophistication and glamour from the 1920’s. The inspiration was drawn from the great American novel and highly anticipated release of The Great Gatsby movie to capture our look.

Carmen Fuentes, the shoot’s designer and coordinator’s goal was to offer inspiration options for brides who would like to capture this moment in time and incorporate modern elements into their wedding theme. When she asked me to create artwork for the shoot, I jumped at the chance. This was my first art deco piece that I specifically had in mind to use a quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald’s book with the artful hand of Calligraphy Katrina for the script. I chose, “At his lips’ touch she blossomed like a flower and the incarnation was complete.” It spoke to me as the perfect sentiment for a couple in love on their wedding day. I used a variety of different parchment paper to create the architectural look and textured feel for this 36″ x 18″ piece with 46 layers.
